Spartan Start Up & Welcome Back Message


Hello Spartans!
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! This school year is certainly unprecedented, but rest assured that we are working hard to make this school year the best it can possibly be for our students and families! Student classes will begin at 8 AM on Monday, August 10th. (Students in MATH 263, MATH 13, and CSIS 9 should check their email for start dates that pertain only to these classes.) Students can access their classes by logging into our learning management system, ECHO starting on Wednesday

Schedules: Student schedules were released via Illuminate today. Students can also view their schedules in ECHO on Wednesday.
Freshman and New Student Orientation: Incoming freshman and new students are invited to join a virtual orientation via Instagram Live on August 5th at 10 AM. Our leadership class will be live streaming from their instagram account, @seasidehigh_asb.
School Year Launch:
MPUSD has planned out a 3 phase approach to restarting our school year. This is intended to allow our school teams an opportunity to plan and prepare a strong launch, and our students an opportunity to ease back into their academic journey. The three phases are as follows:
  • Phase 1 Realize August 5th - August 7th: Teachers are preparing virtual classrooms and engaging in professional development. Freshman and new students participate in orientation.
  • Phase 2 Reimagine August 10th - August 14th: Students attend classes between 8:00 AM - 9:55 AM and will be attending 4 courses a day, as a typical Distance Learning Wednesday. Teachers are continuing to prepare their virtual lessons and attending professional development. Click here  to see the schedule for the week of August 10th.
  • Phase 3 Reunite Starting August 17th: Students return to school, attending their regular classes for the schedule described above in the ‘Daily Schedule and Synchronous Learning’ section. Click here to access our Distance Learning Bell Schedule

Daily Schedule and Synchronous Learning:
All of our teachers will be hosting synchronous classes. On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays classes will run for 50 minutes, with a ten minute transition time between classes. Students will have 4 of their 8 classes each day, in a rotating A/B Schedule. The school day will begin at 8:00 AM and the synchronous component will end by 11:50 AM. Wednesdays will be a shortened day, as they were before. Teachers will host 4 classes with synchronous learning starting at 8:00 AM (A/B days will rotate) and ending by 9:55 AM. Asynchronous learning will occur in the afternoons.
Town Hall: We recognize that there are many questions about distance learning and the start of school. Please join us for a virtual town hall meeting August 4th from 5-6 in English and 6-7 in Spanish. A link to access our virtual town hall will be sent out via Parent Square. Seaside High School will be utilizing the ECHO platform as the primary space to run our Distance Learning courses. In ECHO students will find links to join their synchronous lessons, assignments, grades, and more. Parents have ECHO accounts too! Tech Support/ Chromebook Repair:
In order to access their online classes on August 10th, students will need to make sure that their Chromebook is working and that they can login to ECHO and their student email account. Should you need any assistance troubleshooting technology or passwords, please contact the MPUSD student helpdesk at (831) 392-3905. Starting on August 5th, hours of operation will be Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Closed for lunch from 12 to 1.
