Educational Talent Search

About Us

Educational Talent Search (ETS) is a federally funded program under the TRIO branch of the U.S. Department of Education. ETS serves 1,166 participants in grades 9-12 in Monterey County. Participating schools include: Alisal High School, Gonzales High School, Greenfield High School, King City High School, Seaside High School, Soledad High School, and North Monterey County High School. ETS provides students with academic advisement, career exploration, financial aid/scholarship and college admissions assistance, college tours, cultural events, and other educational enrichment opportunities. The goal of the ETS program is to have our participants graduate from high school, apply and enter the college of their choice, secure financial aid/scholarships, and graduate with a post-secondary education credential.

Services We Offer

Academic Advising

Students are assisted with planning their course schedules in order to meet the minimum freshmen eligibility requirements for both the University of California and California State University systems. This helps students set long and short-term goals that promote college-bound behavior and prepare them for admission into the college of their choice.

Financing Post-Secondary Education

ETS provides financial aid information through academic advising and enrichment workshops. Additionally, participants receive a resource guide for state, federal, and private aid available to students attending college or vocational programs including scholarships, grants, and loans.

Processing Applications

ETS helps individuals work through the process of determining a career pathway, preparing for examinations (PSAT, ACT, and SAT), college admission applications, personal statements, and financial aid applications.

Trips

ETS makes trips to visit different post-secondary schools and career exploration locations throughout the academic year. Campus tours are arranged and a panel of former students from various high schools are available to answer questions and motivate students to attend college.
