Seaside High Students Serve as Mentors

Seaside High Students Serve as Mentors

We are extremely proud of our Seaside High students for serving as role models to younger peers. Students in Carolyn Laymon’s science class recently shared their cell projects to Ord Terrace Elementary’s Mrs. Lothian’s 3rd graders and Ms. Alexander’s 5th graders. Our SHS students led small groups of students in presenting their projects and reading books they created. High schoolers asked and answered questions of elementary students, and spent time interacting with Ord Terrace students demonstrating responsible leadership behaviors.

In similar news, our leadership class under the teacher Rikee Ross visited Old Terrace last week to continue building relationships with their 5th grade pen pals. SHS students led team building and get to know you activities with their 5th grade buddies. They also participated in an annual Mix-it Up Day activities. Many of the SHS students were former Ord Terrace students. 5th graders look up to the high schoolers, and look forward to these visits and receiving their letters every two weeks. This is the third year of this program.
