Seaside High School New Leadership Survey

May 9, 2019

Dear Seaside High School Families and Community Members,

It has been a true pleasure leading and serving Seaside High School for the past nine years. It is with a mix of sadness and optimism to inform you that I will be leaving SHS at the end of this school year to pursue a new endeavor. This decision did not come easily as Seaside High is home to me. Moreover, I welcome the opportunity to work closer to home and support my own young family.

Seaside High School and the Monterey Peninsula School District will always be a very special place for me. At SHS, I was given my first leadership role as an assistant principal and I grew to understand and love the Seaside motto, “Family Forever.” I have discovered that staff members put students first, our students are hard-working, capable learners, and our parent community is very supportive, friendly, and caring. Together we emphasized the importance of sharing, supporting each other, looking for positive learning opportunities for everyone.

It is difficult to say goodbye; however, I leave with the confidence that this school will remain in good hands and continue to achieve academic excellence. Our district plans to seek input from the community to ensure the next principal has the desired leadership traits to build on our successes and continue our upward academic trajectory. During this process, I will be available to ensure a smooth transition for my successor.

A search for the new principal will be underway shortly. The district will host a community engagement meeting on Wednesday, May 15 from 5:30- 6:30 p.m. in Halleck Cafeteria. The district will seek input on the desired leadership traits stakeholders seek in a new principal. We hope you will participate in this process. If you are unable to attend in person, we encourage you to complete a survey ( expressing your desires. This survey may also be found on the Seaside High School’s website.

I feel very fortunate to have been part of the Seaside family and I will always cherish the time spent at this school learning with all of you. Should you have questions, please feel free to contact me.

As always, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for supporting our team and the vision of learning of Seaside High School and the Seaside Community.

Thank you for your support as we transition. Family Forever.
