Seaside High School

A Community School.

Reaffirming Our Commitment to Our Community's Safety

Posted Date: 10/26/26 (06:41 PM)

Dear Seaside High School Family,

The safety and well-being of our students and school community remain our highest priority. We are writing to reaffirm our district’s commitment to ensuring that every student feels safe, supported, and welcome while at school.

First and foremost, our schools are places of learning and care. District policy is clear: we prioritize the safety, privacy, and rights of our students. Our schools do not participate in immigration enforcement activities, and we do not collect or share information about a student’s immigration status. Our role is to educate and protect students, and we are committed to maintaining schools as safe spaces where all students can focus on learning without fear or disruption.

We continue to work closely with district leadership to ensure that staff are trained on appropriate procedures and that any concerns related to student safety are handled with care, professionalism, and respect for families. Linked is further information about our commitment along with a message from our Superintendent.

In addition to physical and emotional safety, we want to address several school expectations that support a safe and productive learning environment:

Cell Phones:
We have seen an increase in student cell phone use during instructional time. While we understand that phones are part of daily life, excessive use during class interferes with learning and classroom focus. Linked is our policy.

Hall Passes:
Hall pass procedures are in place to ensure student safety and accountability. Students should remain in class unless they have explicit permission to be out and must follow all hall pass expectations, including no cell phones. This helps us maintain a safe and orderly campus.

Hate Speech and Harassment:
Our school community is built on respect. Hate speech, harassment, or discriminatory behavior of any kind is not tolerated. Such behavior undermines student safety and well-being and will be addressed according to site and district policy.

Dress Code
Another way we work toward this goal is by adhering to the
MPUSD Dress Code. Updated in 2022 with direct student input, the dress code is designed to promote inclusivity, safety, and respect across all school sites with an emphasis on minimum dress and clothing free from violence, hate, or discrimination.

We ask for your partnership in reinforcing these expectations with your student. When families and schools work together, we create an environment where students can learn, grow, and feel secure.

Thank you for your continued trust and support. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have questions or concerns. We remain committed to keeping our students safe and our school community strong.

Family Forever,
