Seaside High School Attendance Matters update

Posted Date: 08/14/26 (07:41 AM)

Hello Seaside Family,

We are off to a great start for the 2026-2027 school year!! We want to be consistent in communicating the importance of attendance this school year.

Currently, we have 739 of our 884 students with satisfactory attendance and our average daily attendance rate (ADA) is at 95.7%.

We do have 99 students who are already trending toward moderately chronically absent, and we are going to focus on working with this group of students to encourage and push them to attend at a better rate. We ask our parents/ guardians for your support because attendance is so very important for student success in earning their diplomas and preparing them for what they do after graduation. Please encourage your children to attend all of their classes on time and only excuse them when they are sick with a fever (and/ or contagious).

We have already started Tardy Sweeps, where students who are late to class receive Lunch Detentions. Next week, we will dedicate a day to focus on students who arrive late to school for their First Period. Please encourage your children to arrive to school on time.

Our goal is to reduce chronic absenteeism this school year. Chronic absenteeism is missing more than 10 days (in high school 10 periods/ classes is concerning as well). This September, we are going to launch an Attendance Improvement Campaign, where students will be recognized and awarded at the end of the month for Satisfactory and Improved Attendance.

We are so very appreciative of our Seaside Spartan Families and the way that you support our school and your children!

Have a great weekend!!!
