Welcome to The Spartan Connection, a weekly publication where we provide important updates and information with our Spartan Family!

We kicked off the school year with a new course: Math I in Spanish, part of our Global Voices & Perspectives Academy! Students explore math concepts entirely in Spanish through hands-on learning, like this group project using manipulatives to design the base of a jacuzzi with specific measurements. Shout out to Ms. Contreras for leading this awesome class!

During the first full week of school, teachers focused on building a strong foundation of belonging among students. In several of our classrooms students conducted empathy interviews about a place where their partner feels connected and safe, and then designed, made, and gifted them a keychain representing their special place.
Check out students from our Mandarin class in action!

If you have a student who will be participating in fall sports this year, please join us for our parent meeting Thursday, August 20 at 6:00 PM in the Cafeteria.

Seaside High School Leadership students attended last week's Board of Education Meeting, putting civic engagement into practice and gaining first hand experience with local governance and public leadership.
These are experiences that help develop informed, confident student leaders, and we're proud to see our students stepping into the process.

Back to School Night is almost here!
Join us on Thursday, August 27 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM for our annual Back to School Night! We will have community partners sharing resources, and student led tours taking you through classrooms based on your student(s) grade level(s). This is a great opportunity to meet your children's teachers, familiarize yourself with the curriculum, and connect with other families.
After we wrap up, head on down to the football field to join us for the season's first home game! Your completed family survey will get you free entrance to the game.
We hope you'll join us!

Take a moment to review key expectation and policies. These have also been shared with students and are fully implemented on campus.
The 2026 - 2027 MPUSD Parent/ Guardian/ Student Handbook is now available online. The handbook includes important information about student rights and responsibilities, attendance, health and safety, technology use, school policies, and more to help families prepare for a successful school year. Please take a few moments to review it before school begins. View the handbook on our website: 2026–2027 Parent/Guardian/Student Handbook.

Last Thursday we distributed over 100 meals to our community. The meals are chef-prepared, cooked, and frozen so all you need to do it heat and enjoy! We will continue with this free meal distribution each Thursday from 3:30 - 4:30 PM until supplies run out. This resource is made possible through our Community School partnership with Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula.
Check out the flyer below for more weekly food resources available to MPUSD families.

We are in the midst of preparing our Spartan Family Resource Center for the 2026-2027 relaunch! Our regular hours will be shared soon.
In the meantime, if you are in need of food, clothing, or school supplies, please contact Ms. B (kbarthelow@mpusd.net) to schedule a time to come by and grab what you need.
